George E. Boyer Memorial Tribute (1935 – 2026)
About George E. Boyer
George E. Boyer (January 9, 1935 – April 17, 2026) was a distinguished author, veteran, and storyteller whose life was marked by courage, devotion, and a deep commitment to sharing his experiences through the written word. Over the course of his life, he authored 22 books, leaving behind a powerful body of work that reflects his journey through love, family, and war.
Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, George later earned an Associate of Science degree from Monterey Peninsula College in California. His path led him into military service, where he served with honor in the 77th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the 5th, 6th, and 7th Special Forces Groups. His service took him across the world—spending a total of 88 months overseas in 11 different countries—experiences that would later shape much of his writing.
George was a life member of the Special Operations Association, the Korean War Veterans Association, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was also recognized with an Editor’s Choice Award for his poetry, a reflection of his ability to capture both strength and tenderness in his words.
Beyond his accomplishments, George was a devoted husband to his wife, Geneva Priest, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Together, they raised three daughters and built a life rooted in love, resilience, and faith.
He spent his later years in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Today, his legacy lives on not only through his service and his family, but through the stories he so faithfully preserved—stories that continue to speak long after his passing.
